GT disk pads and New Rotors.

Post by Glenn »

As some of you will know, I got some new disk rotors made for GT many years ago. Unfortunately, after delivering the first set of the rotors, the guy got very ill and closed the business.

Is there still a demand for new GT rotors and pads?

I have found a place interesting in helping us overcome this, if there's demand.

Does anybody have full dimensions of a GT rotor? I have a new set of pads here so that part is OK.

I would be interested, but how many $. We have getting old pads rebuilt. I have also found site overseas that still sell new pads, but not cheap, but still available.
Would be great to find someone to make rotors. We would have a second hand rotor for pattern if required.

Cheers Geoff

Hi
yes, i need full dimensions or a good rotor to measure up. The guy I found seems keen to help but no idea on costs yet.

When I had them made before, they modified an existing pattern to make them so tooling cost was low. They were new castings, not turned from solid.

I can't even find the OD of the rotor in the specs ! I think its 10" or metric equivalent. Anybody know that for a start?

I have a genuine Isuzu set of new pads I can show them (not for sale though !)

Maybe this question has been asked before, but I have not poked around enough.
Any chance I can modify my sedan to take disks instead of drums?
If so then I would be interested.

Hi Doug
There are a couple of possible conversions I have found on these pages. Both use Mitsubishi parts you may not be able to find there and even here, becoming very difficult as they are from quite old cars now. seach for 'sigma' in the search engine for one. Also magna.
GT hub is different also as it takes a bolt on disk rotor.

Their 'must' be something out there one would imagine, that could be adapted with out major work, we haven't found it though ! One of the conversions at least involves a technically (here) illegal mod to the stub axle diameter to allow the other makes hub to fit Bellett stub axle. Some have found bearings to avoid that issue but the bearings themselves are very hard to find also.

I don't see much of a reaction to getting new GT rotors made.

Or finding pads.

Also I need a GT rotor to get dimensions for the guy if this takes off..

Glenn.
I'll be in for a set and i know Craig will want 3 or sets.
I'm sure he'll have a spare to sample off too.
I've got the overall dimensions at home but am at work now so will have to sort them later.
Cheers.

Thanks Brett, all info gratefully received.

And a rotor even better for them to accurately measure up. I might be able to borrow a new one from Brett R perhaps.

we might be able to get say 10 sets.

There are no promises as yet but they seem keen to help.

Not sure why i am doing this, as I don't need any :)

I think i have one of those rotors that Tom uses. Larger diameter.
Does not have the tapped holes to fit to a GT hub though. Adding holes is apprently not legal either.

possibly Datsun 240K ?

Will see what happens down here re a rotor, thanks Gricey.

Hi guys,

I'd be keen for either one set (DEFINITELY) or two sets (a spare) depending on price.

Still can't help with the original disc dimensions, but yeah, I need some disc action PRONTO!

Maybe jt191 could see if bills isuzu can produce the rotors as a bulk deal as someone has done the tooling and hard yards this is where the money is we all know dba can push them out for a fraction of the price for modern cars. So if bills isuzu can supply a bulk order maybe they are affordable and they can recoupe there efforts and money.

Happy to go that way if the costs are reasonable etc. They may be tirned from a solid rather than cast also.
