The Smith & Carter road trip.

Post by Farmer »

Hello friends.
The Smith & Carter road trip is now done. Sorry about the lack of info, but you know, we were all just 'in the moment'! No time for computer clickery when your flat-out lapping up Belletts. ;)
And I only just bought this new Droid Tablet thingy on the way. All I needed was the camera function, and it worked great, but the fun bit is getting the pics out of it into the 'puter.
But it's done! So here is a test pic to see if the resizing is correct.

Possibly my fave!

FOUR FLORIANS!!

Yeah, it's the Bellett nationals, but four Florians? Thats pretty epic!
Cheryl even thought of a new collective noun - A FLURRY OF FLORIANS!
We even had three abreast going into the tunnel on the B2B run - EPIC!

This was a GREAT Nationals! So much to write and show!
More when I can,
Cheers, Matt.

Possibly one of my favorite pictures too! It really was the highlight of my weekend to see four fabulous florians together!

Hey Matt, got yourselves and Aunty Mary home safe, great news. And yeah, certainly concur "the moment taketh over". Tunnel fun is never over rated also :P :D You have embraced the new technology, fab results. So enjoyed fanging around FRRRROLLIANS all weekend, will never live down being dragged off by one tho, :o  ;)

Thanks you guys.

So, a little more trip detail.
Day 1 - 650 km into a strong & gusty headwind. Mary did well to hold 110 for lots of the way and 32mpg.
Day 2 - 600 more, with a stop to buy the droidpad thingy. Less wind, more pleasant. Great landing early Friday arvo & meeting back up with Bellett family.

First pic - 3 blokes. (Mitch holding the camera. I've found the timer now.)

Day 3 - Nationals cruise to Angoves, where we were treated to great wine and food by our host, Paul. Fantastic picturesque venue filled with great Belletty friends and their beautiful machines. Really really good day. Ya shoulda been there!

Many of my pics are similar to ones posted elsewhere, so I'll go with my 'finalists' for my "Peoples Choice" award. My premise: the car I'd like to take home. So, one I don't have an example of. ;)
Every car there is desirable, but these............

Styleside Wasp? Rare as, pick either one. Josh's is in great nik, and Dave's vintage signage - choice!

117s. DOHC goodness or simple piont-n-go Gemini-like spec swapability. Yep, either one.

PR90. Rare. Original design.
OK, there are a few bits substituted, but Terry and Janet's car has come together really nicely. I like it. A lot.

So hard to choose.........
But fun trying! :D

Cheers, Matt.

I gotta put up a few more. So much classic car love.

This nice teardrop rocked up to the B2B just in time for the start of the run.

Gotta love the 'plate!

They went on the run, but went around and back to Adelaide, so didn't park up with us at Birdwood. Shame, but I had a short talk with him before we left.

So many Isuzus we had to park them 2 rows deep!

"Maaaaate" will be talking about this for a long time......possibly all the way to Tassie. Liz is finding out how much she missed out on the weekend, she can't shut me up

Great to see another perspective, plus you got pics of Henry's cars, which I did not.

Shame he split so quickly; his cars are pretty awesome.
