Gippsland Sporting and Classic Car Club breakfast Jan 12

Post by Glenn »

Is anybody in the BCCV thinking of going to this? Prince group is making a day of it and traveling east from Lilydale to end up in Warragul. Then beyond on return.

I am planning to drive straight down the freeway from Narre Warren to Warragal (48km) to meet up with them. Maybe have breakfast too!
Anyone else joining me ?

Hi Jason, certainly looks like a perfect day for a drive, to get our beloved cars out on the road.
CU down there.

We were constantly surrounded by people who knew of Belletts, had one, Mate had one etc. Even a mechanic who worked on them in a dealership at the time. One guy had 2 GT's.
In all the places i have been, never seen so much interest as this. :D :D Disappointing no other Bellets present. :( :(

Plenty of other cars there too. Big variety. Some very interesting ones. A Sunbeam with a V12 engine. DOHC each bank. Reputed to be an aircraft engine. The car was HUGE!

The Club down there is for almost any car. Very sociable people too.

The early MG had a Holden grey 6 in it. The MG Magnette? had what looked like a Celica motor..... Lowered, roll cage etc.

thats a holden 'grey' under the hood where a tiny 4 cylinder used to be. Even though the Grey is only 2.2 litres, I bet this MG moves pretty well.

Check the 3 alloy sets in the car. Riding 'shotgun' in the centre rear would be interesting

many more than this. But no more pictures taken!

Great day out. Had a small issue with the Sport. Front carbie started to flood on the way down. In this carby setup, the overflow feeds straight into the air cleaner so there was a lot of petrol about ! Not good ...... After a bit of fiddling about, Barrie managed to clear what appears to have been a blockage in the needle area of the SU. Ran perfect all the way home.

Which Skyline Colour Gerry???? I might just know someone who could probably help with that colour ;)

Glenn & Barrie - great to have you both join us down at Warragul for the Breakfast Club with the Gippsland and Sporting Classic Car Club
really is a great day with a fantastic array of different cars each month. The group down there are always open from visitors and what better way than to have a few Bellett's and Prince GT's rock up into town. Although they hold this event on the second Sunday of each month, the Prince Mafia do this every January (to tie in with the swap meet)and extend the invitation to the local Bellett folk to join us for the drive, the short display at Warragul and then on to Korumburra Swap Meet.
It was a shame that there were only the two of you there and it certainly would be nice to see more perhaps next year.
Once again it was great catching up with Glenn & Barrie and I trust you had a great day as well. Shame about your minor 'issue' Glenn - hopefully next year you can make it to the Swap Meet after Warragul and lunch in Korumburra.

I'll attach a few pics myself - probably very similar to Glenn's.

Cheers. Jason

We went on to Korumburra Swap Meet after the Breakfast Club at Warragul. Unfortunately Glenn was heading home from Warragul and Barrie was not sure what he was planning on doing. Well, being fanatical about all things Japanese, let me tell you there wasn't much at all there for any of our cars - Yes I was looking for Isuzu stuff as well
About the only Japanese stuff found was a table full of Nissan/Datsun manuals, parts books, and Dealer literature along with about 50 NOS Nissan/Datsun Car badges - mainly from 70's models and a host of other NOS parts including cranks, fender mirrors, and other goodies. No idea what half of them suit, however as I have access to Nissan Fast (Japanese Nissan Parts Catalog), I plan on entering all the part numbers in to find out what they were.

Needless to say I was happy with what was there, so I did a deal with the stall holder (an ex Country Datsun then Nissan Dealer in late 60's and 70's) and bought the lot!!!! :o

Lets just say it was the deal of the year, and the lovely gentleman (name withheld ;) ) and his wife have asked me to give them a call whilst they go through the rest of their stuff and they will sort out something with me for the remaining parts.

Oh, and there was also an original Dealer metal Parts sign there which was thrown in for good measure. Below is a picture of what I got for a very good price!

Who else would negotiate the lot if it happened to be Isuzu stuff.

I go to swap meets regularly and will continue to keep my eye out on anything that you folk might be interested in and will be sure to let you know
