Hombre

Post by C716 »

This is my 98 Isuzu Hombre. Note the U.S.S. Enterprise stripping down the length of truck. In the cargo bed of my Dilithium powered Hombre is my niece recovering from the effects of High warp. All kidding aside, this is a nice truck. It IS of course the sister to the Chevy s-10 in most ways. I have swapped a few things from Chevy S-10 and GMC S-15 ( Sonoma ). The dash was simple and I went from a non-tach to a tach to guage my impulse drive. I will get a pic of the Licence plate as soon as I can. NCC-1700.

That's a different truck; well certainly different to what we get here (Australia, in my case)... and fairly rare in the USA according to the mighty Wikipedia.

Good to see another Isuzu here in the 'other Isuzus' section!

It's a bit hard to gauge size from the photo but it looks like a small truck by US standards. Good old Wiki mentions that a V6 and 4x4 was offered in 1998. Is this the case for yours? What was the earlier model? I don't imagine it being a four cylinder and I'm not sure that Isuzu would offer a V8 but I'm being lazy and not Googling too far :)

Good to have you along on the forum too! The other Isuzu section was only ever expected to attract Gemini's, Florians and 117's (with the occasional Rodeo) but a Hombre is a bonus.

Cheers,
Ross

BTW where was the photo shot? You don't have to be specific if you don't want to but it looks like a nice spot.

Ross

Actually my truck IS in fact a 4 cyl. a 2.2 ltr to be exact. Yes this truck is on the smaller side by US standards. This is the same as the Chevy S-10 or GMC Somona ( S-15 ). They (Isuzu) , made mostly 6 cyl in these models and no 8 cyl. You are correct about the 4X4's.
This picture was taken in Largo Florida ( west of Tampa, 20 miles or so) at a place called Taylor Park. It was a beautiful day and I had charge of my lovely niece that day and we made the most of it. Isuzu DID make a truck prior to the Hombre, it was simply an Isuzu Pickup, no other naming convention to it other than that. The older truck was a bit more squared off , but a nice looking lil truck.
Ross, have yourself a great day.
