Classic Japanese Day. Version 5 - 2015.

Post by PR91 »

Th BCCV has had official notification that the awesome CJD is on again this year.

Date: December 6.
Location: Como Park, Sth Yarra. (As per the last 3 years).

We'll organise a meet point beforehand and let you all know.
Also, as it was a success last year, we'll do our Xmas BBQ directly after, with the venue TBA at this stage.

As always, the CJD is a fantastic day out and not to be missed.
Let's yet again have a great classic Isuzu turn out again, so if you intend on going (and all BCCV members should be), then let me know so I can keep you info'd.

Cheers.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Saw a few of the guys and girls who run this awesome event yesterday while flying the club and Isuzu flag for us all at a promo shoot for the CJD, and some info was passed on.
This year's event will be done via PRE ENTRY.
They feel that they will fill Como quickly on the day, so are asking that most people pre enter to ensure a spot as they will get in while those who just roll up on the day may miss out.
Obviously this isn't an ideal situation, and they are in the process of finding an even bigger area to hold the event from next year, but it does so how well the show is received and it's popularity in the scene.
Apparently the forms will be released around September 15, so I'll keep you informed when I know more.
If you intend on going, please let me know ASAP so you aren't left out.
Cheers.

Ok, notification has come thru today that PRE ENTRY IS NOW OPEN.
Head on over to www.classicjapan.org.au for details and to enter. They're capping numbers at 600 cars this year, and will very likely reach that.
Cost is $15 per car with $5 of that going to the chosen charity.
We'll be doing our traditional meeting up before the event, and details of this are to follow.

Nothing to do with me mate.
Is a question for the organisers.
You'll get a pack mailed out with all the event info, car pass, etc, so they need it to send it.
Doesn't worry me tho..... PO Box.

Mention it to the organisers.
About 400. That was 2013 in good weather and still got the same last year when it poured rain, so who knows what they would have got. They're expected a lot more with good weather this year tho and don't want to get caught out.

BCCV members will see a letter in that the mail on Monday - Tuesday with details of entering, the meet point and the rest.
I won't be at the meet point as I have to be in earlier than everyone to set up, so Wal is leading the cruise.

Anyone else who is intending on coming to the always fantastic Classic Japanese Day on Dec 6 (next Sunday!), I strongly suggest you pull your finger out and get your entry in.
Entries close tomorrow afternoon and when this was posted, only 50 spots remain of the allocated 600 available..... So leave it til the day like years gone by and you will be disappointed.
You've been warned....

Another fantastic day. Weather was brilliant.
HUGE turnout. Only a few no shows of the 600 entered..... Last I heard was over 580 cars and thousands (yes, thousands!) of people. Was packed all day.
All signs of a great event with a strong future. Were cars from Vic, NSW. Qld, Tas and SA, with people also from WA, NZ and Finland...... Yep. Finland.
This is easily the premier Japanese event in Australia, so if u haven't been before, mark the first Sunday in Dec 2016 as a trip to Melbourne and we'll make sure you're looked after.

What a great day ! Melbourne turned on a warm 30C but overcast day which kept the sunburn factor a bit lower. (last year was WET)

Not official, but we heard there were 550 cars+ on the day. The venue was bursting at the seams and apparently next year a new venue will be tried. Not helping traffic coming out was roadworks on the main road next the South Yarra venue which made exiting very difficult. Majority of us left after the crowds had cleared, around 3pm. This venue is split into two arenas with a steep set of stairs between them.

BCCV had
1x GT, Barrie and Trish
1x sedan, Grant
1x Sport, Glenn & Milena
2x 117's !! Bob and Peter. Peter came down from Sydney. Great effort and many thanks for coming to join BCCV. A pity Peter's car was allocated to the upper area with the rest of us on the lower level. Bob came down from near the Murray River. Thanks Bob. Brett had a sedan up 'top' also.
Kerry in his Prince Super Miler (truck)
1 x LUV (with DOHC), Bob's son, Nathan

What i noticed the most about the show was the high number of cars with either bigger or bigger and Turbo'd engines. An dof those some very very nicely carried out re-builds. Immaculate in other words.
For me, the Toyota Hilux (1981?) was the standout. This car was totally restored to better than new probably with some very mild suspension changes. Not that i think the owner would take it offroad now !
