V8 Bellett?

many may have wondered how to fit a bigger motor into a Bellett...... something like a V8 would give a pretty good power to weight ratio....... but sadly 'won't fit'.

spare a thought then for this one, a Lambo V12 into a Fiat 500 ? Impossible you say, have a look......

A V8 will fit. Especially a Windsor as they're only a 60 degree. A Chev will go in with more work and maybe that's even happening somewhere on Gods green earth, but....
Nothing will fit without major surgery. The engine bay just isn't wide enough between the towers, so a complete rehash of the front suspension is needed before anything else.
I did hear a comment years ago about someone planning to put a "small" V8 in one and mentioned a Leyland as they are alloy..... I laughed as it showed no knowledge of a Leyland V8. Sure, small capacity at only 269ci (4.4L), but its a 90 deg V with a longer stroke than a Chev, so its actually a physically bigger engine than a Chev too!
On the tower subject tho..... A Wasp has none of these issues and with a chop here, a cut there, another mod elsewhere, a Holden V8 fits like it was always meant to be there. Seeing is believing

I wasn't serious about the V8 into a Bellett, (anything is possible as you say) just the utube video of what on the face of it would never ever fit...... a V12 Lambo engine is huge.

Theres another good utube video of two guys fitting the full running gear of a Celica GT-4 (turbo 4 wheel drive) into a Mini. Actually the videos are now upto about #15 and not yet done although bulk of work is finished. . That is a great series "Bad Obsession Motorsports" with the Mini - wish they would hurry up and stop drinking tea.

I think it's been 3 years already with that project...... tea drinking added to that for sure LOL>

I'm sure we competed against a Bellett at Amaroo Pak in the club lap dash times that was fitted with a small block Chev, but it didn't handle.

I dreamed of fitting an Alloy Buick V8 into a Bellett (Leyland), the Buick was known as a pencil head engine as the valves were vertical and the motor was very narrow, never happened though, and never will by me I'm afraid.
