Was issued today at Burwood.... So that's it for this series of H plates, and that's 100,000 sets since 2005 when this style kicked off.
Also, as one of mine is in the low 86000-H range and was issued early March this year, that means they handed out 14,000 sets in 9 months.....
The new style is the same layout with the range being 0002-H2 to 9999-H9. Some combinations of 0, 1 and 5 are not available due to confusion with other plates.

some are used as 'cheap rego' or a way around getting an Engineers certificate and not all conditions are complied with.
Mine is in 20,000 range so a heck of a lot of cars on H reg in 6 yrs since I got mine.
Yep, there will always be those that will disobey the rules and rought the any system. Not a reason to alter the system IMHO, but a reason for extra policing and weeding those types out.
NSW system is really good for enthusiasts. Now we can keep our vehicles in good running order by using them as often as they should be.

It's estimated of the 100,000 sets issued since 2005, about 30,000 of them no longer exist as old numbers are not re issued. Also, any vehicle that changes owner is also given a new number.
And of the 10,000 original CH prefix plates issued, less than 1,000 are still active.
They did start at 02. First one was 0002-H2.
The last H was issued on December 4, so that means they've already issued over 1000 of the new style as well.....

Nowhere near 500 a day. Burwood is one of the biggest and they do around 25 a day. Just depends on what number range is sent to what office at what time.
The last, being 99999-H was issued on December 4 at Burwood. The next lot they had was around the 6000-H2 mark.
Apparently at least 2 regional offices have a few H series left while others are into the H4's already so is luck of the draw where you go and what they have at the time because some offices get thru them quickly (25 or more a day) while others might do 5 a week, at most.

typo. a week. From what you say, there is really no way to know how many are out there.

I don't think anyone could put an accurate number on how many CPS cars there are other than VicRoads themselves, and even that would change from day to day accordingly.
Plates come in a box of 50 pairs, so somewhere like Burwood would get 2 or 3 boxes a week. Small regional offices might only get 1 box every 2 or 3 months.... It all depends on the demands of each place. Obviously they're sent to the offices as a "next box of the stack" scenario, so some places might get (for argument sake) numbers within a thousand of the last lot they had, but others might see lots that are 10's of thousands apart. And obviously then while some offices are now issuing the newer H2, H3, H4 style, there's still the odd place that have some of the old H stock left.
As said, it's really just luck of the draw.

I don't think all Vic-roads offices do Club plates? At least when i got mine that was so. Has that changed ?
