GT Brake calipers and pads

Post by peterd »

I am trying to find out what calipers are on my GT. I saw where Davo mentioned that he had fitted a front brake conversion to his GT but I am not sure if these are the conversion ones or genuine GT. The ones that I have do not have any pads and my parts book does not show pictures of Disk brakes. The car came with a photo album that shows these calipers were rebuilt but I will get them checked out as they may have rusted up since the rebuild. I think I may have found some NOS pads for a GT but I have no idea what they look like or dimensions. I would appreciate it if somebody could identify these calipers from the pictures provided and also send me a picture of some front pads. Hopefully they are GT and the pads I have found will fit. Many thanks

Peter

No Problems
If you have the brake pads backing plates they can be re-bonded....
Any decent brake shop can get it done
The actual Brake shop in your picture is excellent
Cheaper than getting posted from Japan

Hi J
Unfortunately I do not have any used backing plates only the calipers but my friend has just advised me that the box has DB052 on it so I will have a full set of NOS. You can get lucky sometimes.
Thanks again

Convert it to the kit that's been developed.
Far cheaper, far better, easy to get, fit inside standard wheels and engineer approved.

Do you know whats happened to BGT brakes in Dandenong?

They used to do a full re-build on GT Calipers for around $250 each.

Went past there the other day and it's closed up.

I don't need anything, just curious.

EDIT: they may have moved to Address: 18 Cambria Rd, Keysborough VIC 3173 tel:03 9792 2806

Guys, I have got lucky, I have acquired a full set of NOS front pads and some NOS rear pads as well so there is still stuff out there. Appreciate all your comments and help with this.

Thanks for your comments Davo, going through your photo album I can see you had a plan and was working through it. If you had not taken the time to bag and label all the bits and pieces it would have been a nightmare putting back together not many people would take the time to do that.

No work on the car last week due to me being away and we had a heat wave (total fire ban) so welding and grinding was out of the question. Back into it this week hopefully completing rear quarters and back beaver panel around tail light section.

regards

Glenn they've been thru the ringer with changes over the last few years. Mainly health related for the owner.

Thanks Brett.

All the brake dust etc can't be good either for health. Next time i am around keysborough way i will have a look.

I imagine there wouldn't be the same amount of brake work done on 'old' cars these days either.
