My house was just across the road, I have vague memories of Geoff wanting to (or did) put a Gemini Motor in, but the starter motor was a problem with the clearance in the engine bay.

As I say, 'very vague'.

Geoff was always hanging around and seemed to enjoy working on my cars, when I moved from Greystanes to Shalvey, I lost contact with a lot of my Bellett friends.

You never know, with a bit of luck (and some invite details) I just might get to see you all again in October? Of course, you will have to settle for the Falcon.

Yes Ted, You are the culprit for me becoming a Bellett Fanatic, I did put a G161 sohc motor in my Bellett in 1980/81, yes PR91 the ball peen hammer worked a treat, this was run at state level race meetings with fair results written off at Amaroo park in late 1981, the new car built in 1982 I put a G180 bored to 1949cc (G200) pistons, this improved the cars s performance to be a consitant top three under 2 litre car ( when others went rotary ) at state level in NSW untill 1989 when I semi retired. We currently have a 4zei 2.6 litre to plug in though this has been one of those one day projects, attached is a recent photo of my son Matthew having some fun at Oran Park before it closed. The car is in the same configeration that it was built in 82' 83 it is the Gobert machine that Peter Degnan had for years that replaced the, destroyed in seconds car on another topic.

What a nostalgia trip, some really great cars on here, I missed so much obviously and like so many others, wish I could turn back the clock.

Ted,The clock really does not need turning back, this Forum has enspired people all around the world, as when you have time to veiw all the topics here, of the passion and friendships made, reaquainted etc. Who would of thought of the sight of three Belletts on Sandown Park a couple of weeks ago, and Pombellets purchase of rollie from Aus and shipped to England, rebuilt and having track time, then being accepted to Goodwood, but also all the cars being found from here there and everywhere, and the vast quantitys of Belletts Florians, Wasps appearing seemingly from nowhere repaired or rebuilt, it is great.

You're right Geoff. This is a fantastic resource. The creators intend to leave everything on here, buying more cyberspace as required rather than deleting off old posts. And it takes the place of those phone calls we don't always get around to.
7 or so years ago, I didn't think I had any use for a computer, & thought I'd stuff something up if I touched one. Now I can actually find the letters & can perform rudimentary operations. (So this site has helped me land my current part-time job!).
Prior to this site, Brother Gary & I had a love of Belletts & rang each other about little discoveries, but didn't have too many more contacts. (Still happens, another discovery on Wednesday - more soon)
I will always be grateful to Brett & Steve for re-starting the Nationals and welcoming me along in my 'ratter' in 2006. And of course to Brett, Dave, Ross & Ants - the young fellas with the nous & computer-ability to make all this a reality. You have done a very good thing.

I am not certain but I thought Alan Linton-Smith's sedan had a rotary in it towards the end??
Alan's cae endfed up in Victoria, somewhere????

Again, THANKYOU to ALL that has made this forum possible.
Dave after Alan had the unfortunate fortune of destroying two cars, his last one did have a rotary in it. I tried to purchase it a few years ago, though was not foprtunate, and we believe it has gone to Vic, and we have note been able to locate it again. And to think I sold that body to him in 1982 for $50.00. it has been a great example of the Bellett strengths.

the linton-smith car....
ok, here goes what i know.

bruce de boo bought it at some stage, and raced it with some success down here in victoria. and yes, it had a mid-mounted 13b rotary turbo fitted by then.
it was still white, and was raced for a while in it's "shell dee-why" colouring, then was and sponsored by bruce's own company, "soneric communications". i have some pics of it at phillip island around 1993-94 that i have to scan and post soon!
bruce then pulled all of the running gear and fitted it to a series 4 RX7 body. he had some success again with this car.
the bellett was cobbled together with other parts and sold to someone in sydney, and used in club sprints and the like.
while the RX7 was a good thing, bruce never really liked it, so his son started racing it, and bruce bought the bellett back from it's sydney owner. he started to rebuild it to race again, but then the poor bloke came down with cancer....
he passed away about 3-4 years ago.... RIP.
anyway, i've been on the hunt for the car for a little while now, but must admit that i haven't for a while due to "other" things i've had to concentrate on, but it's still a well remembered car down here, especially in the sports sedan ranks.

Brett give Glenn Read a call at Centerline suspension as I recall he rebuilt the suspension on the car I also looked at the car at club event at winton in 1989 and Bruce offered me the rolling sell for $1500 with the fiat disc brakes that were fitted on the rear and I'm lead to believe they are no longer with the car hope this helps. Maybe if I'd bought this one I wouldn't of built the Blue sedan.

Just to let you know, I have sent in my registration for the 2011 Bellett Nationals and booked accommodation at the Wagon Wheel Motel, look forward to seeing old faces, meeting new and reminiscing.

I will come down on the Friday with a mid to late afternoon arrival, will head back after lunch on Sunday.

Unfortunately, I will have to throw the big Ford in the mix.
