patches
Around 10 months ago i bought a little delight from bell qld.The plan for this little car was to repair the rusted door sills and rusty rear quarter panels and keep it alive until i got back to it,with isabellas car and another one waiting this one was called patches as it was going to have a few grey spots. As the grey spots were supposed to appear in small areas this didnt happen with outer sills needed we folded up a couple of sets and quickly found out the inners were gone then the rear sub frame was not in a condition that they would still be there in 5/10 years time so it was all reconstructed from sheetmetal the tops of the door pillars were gone it become obvios it was time for a full resto the car was completly stripped out and sanded back to bare metal,90%of the suspension was powder coated except the few bits that i did not want to disturb the bushes, chrome has been sent to be redone and it went from a patch job to a full resto.
here are some picks.

Re: patches
Dear me, that's some serious cutting!
And I thought my rusty spares car was too far gone! But if you were prepared to do that much cutting, then it might be possible to save it!
Good work on being so thorough, there must be some serious man-hours in there. It's beaut to see one more saved & returned to it's former glory. Might we see it at Coonabarrabran?
Awesome.
Thanks for posting, Matt.

Re: patches
The plan is to have it at coonabarrabran as well as the north qld car.I have held back on this post there were times we thought patches was not going to pull through but its alive and well.
It has been repaired properly all sections replaced with new steel bog only been used to hide welds small dents ect as any car has.
The car has been preserved its still a bellett gt but back to original ? I.E the radiator support has been modified to take a larger radiator it was decided to leave it this way, paint not origanal toyota camry blue, seats are trimmed velour, front seat not bellett, new door cards made but not covered yet patern not decided, podercoated suspension, most bolts replaced with stainless,a fair bit of chrome under the bonnet. So it wont be original but now it will live a lot longer than if it was not done properly.
As for Matts rusty parts car if you can why not where are you going to find another? but in saying that we have a parts car also its been a family member fo 25 years and i often think if it was too far gone when we bought it? Hind sight

Re: patches
Wow! That is a serious amount of cutting/welding!
Good on you for going the extra mile and doing it properly, not just bogging it up and laying paint over the top.
Hope to see you at the Nationals with that little beastie.
Cheers,
Ross.

HI ROD
As for the shockies they are new i started a parts thread called parts and contractred services this will help you feel free to add to it or if i have gone the hard way about sourcing a part correct it this info should help anyone doing a resto or a repair.
As for lowering the front a set of rear sedan springs were used.

Re: patches
unfortunatly i cant be a computer nerd as others,as for my grammer i only just completed year ten at school i was a trouble maker it was advised to me and my parents that i should leave.I was also advised on many occasions that i had no future. In my 25 year working life i have a number of businesses and employ 14 people and own assets valued in the millions. My admin staff are not available for the forum.I am sorry my teachers failed me.I CANT be good at every thing unlike some people. If you prefer i will only read this forum as the majority do. I try to help other owners with my experiences, ie my parts list I just started. If someone wants to edit my posts i am not going to be offended.

Re: patches
That part no is for early holden but i had a l200 mitsubishi that i took to cape york 20 years ago and i kept snapping the bottom rod. This is what i used it is possible that something else might fit better?I used a burl in a die grinder to elongate the lower holes and a bench grinder to round the ends to fit the recess.
