Re: Rebuilding a 4ZE1

Check out the main bearing slot sizes. The factory sizes are printed on the oil pan seal surface of the block. If it says 11111, then it's ok to use aftermarket std or oversize bearings. If 12121, or so, you have to reuse the #2 and #4 bearigs, since they have different size slots on the block. Head ...

Re: Isuzu Bellett 1500 Project

Am I the only one here that has destroyed a Bellett diff?
A couple of days on the race track did the job. Cornering raised the inner rear wheel and had it slipping. Any diff would be destroyed sooner or later doing that. The little gears and their axle inside the diff were worn out. The only thing I ...

Re: GT Bellett for sale in QLD

That would be the first turbocharged Bellett I've ever heard about. Take a look at that engine bay! That's what you call a tight fit. I wonder if I could turn the steering over on that one! :D

Re: hub caps

I've got some of those as well. They are for 80's vans and pickups. At least that's what I was told, when I purchased them along with some other goods. Some have a detachable centerpiece to allow access to the hub locks on 4wd models.

C223T upgrade

I'm about to change the old and tired C223 diesel engine of my '87 KB to a slightly newer C223T ('T' for turbo) from a '89 Trooper. Has anyone used a C223 head with the C223T engine? The C223 has bigger valves, you know and it would be easy to do the swap now as I have the both engines available.
I ...

Re: Another Finnish Bellett

Doesn't sound like a massively difficult swap...

What problems did you run into while doing the change over?

I'm weighing up the pro's and con's of putting this engine into a Bellett or a Gemini.

I had the side engine mounts custom made for me. Especially the one with the oil passages needed ...

Sure we have GTs up here! One very close to the GTR with its doch engine is for sale: http://www.nettiauto.com/2006247
Click "in english" on the upright corner.
That clip of Crysis was almost like sitting in that Bellett for sale. Exept the hood colour and vents. And driving skills, of course.

Re: Another Finnish Bellett

This is how I did the conversion:
I took the 4ZD1 engine and gearbox out of a '90 Isuzu pick-up. Along came the drive shaft and engine wire harnesses.
I Mounted the gearbox to a '68 Bellett gearbox frame by usin steel plates as an adaptor. There are two one inch tall rubber bushings between them ...

Larger valves for 4ZD1

Hello Isuzu gurus!
Here's my problem. I tried to fit 4ZE1 valves to a 4ZD1 head only to find that the 4ZE1 valves are 2 mm short. I have already machined the valve seats and ports of my spare 4ZD1 head to fit the 4ZE1 valve diameters. All I need now is a set of valves that have the same lenght as ...

Re: Another Finnish Bellett

That's a 4ZE1 in Anttis race Bellett with webers etc. A pic of mine fitted with 4ZD1 (2,3l) is below. I once had a petrol heater in that engine compartment. It almost burned up the whole car. Luckily the fire department was quick enough to save it from disaster. You can even see the cinder on the ...

Re: Another Finnish Bellett

Thanks!
It is great fun! Though mine is only 2,3 litre without larger modifications, yet
I think Antti has the worlds largest engine in a Bellett with his 2,6 litre powered race car. Here's a pic of it. I'll have to arrange one of mine later.

Hello!
MrJ gave us all a hint about this nice site at m
I went thru some of the topics and decided to join in.
My Bellett is a four door sedan. It is fitted with a 4ZD1 single carb engine and a 5-speed gearbox from a Isuzu pick-up. Front brakes come from a Ford Sierra.
Here's a wiev thru my ...
