bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
hi guys i am trying to work out the difference between a standard and a deluxe please shed some light if you can Am i correct in following tinted windows , chrome door surrounds , chrome oiece in between doors , deluxe badge on both front gaurds and on the boot {rhs} some later had the word deluxe on a badge ? full chrome wheel trims , optional white walls, inside had a radio, seatbelts , carpets, and a clock sometimes in the dash and some on the dash.2 speed washers this is the tricky bit did they have different wiring or just added to the existing loom also did they have an electric pump like the gt.s and finally a heater which had a pull out 3 position lever where the existing controls are Is there anything ive missed . i know that dave will know all this imfo regards davo in qld

Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
Hi Dave,
The trim and brightwork info looks about right as far as I know.
tinted windows
stainless steel door window frames & trim plate on B-pillar
deluxe badging on front quarters (1969-model has small 'deluxe' badge on back different to the shield on the side)
wheelcovers
radio
carpets instead of mats
clock on top of dashboard (early dash)
clock in dashboard next to speedo (1966.5 onwards)
2 speed wipers - I've seen the 2-speed wipers in a non-Deluxe as well
I'm not sure if whitewalls were an actual option, nor can I tell you for certain if they had seatbelts.
Can anybody help Dave in Queensland determine if the wiring was different? I simply don't know.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
Also inside the trim work was different on the seats both front and rear, the front seat rail system is a dual lock system as compaired to single lock on the 67 sedan. The seat mounts are also different as we tried to swap out seats between 67 sedan and deluxe sedan. The wiring for the switch is same as far as i know but you have to also fit the dual-speed wiper motor for the system to work. Also think the water bottle was the standard bag unit with the vacuum pump manual squirter. Only GT got the electric unit. Clock was in all the 68-69 models but the rarer 66-67 deluxe may have not got the clock. my 2 cents worth.

Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
Re interior deluxe sedan also had GTstyle arm rests on front & sometimes on rear doors
Rear doors seemed optional as to mood of person fitting but definately on front doors
Also 67-68 deluxe had woodgrain dash facia same as GT& hence are inter changable with same eg clock hole in dash facia becomes oil pressure guage
cheers ken

Oh yeah I forgot about that! Ross's 1969 Deluxe has the arm rests and I remember seeing that on other earlier deluxes.
Plus the woodgrain.... class!

Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
nope, just the deluxe. my 69 deluxe it, as did the other ones i've seen.
all the standards never had it, but the earlier deluxes may have.
GT's definitly never had it either.

Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
My 68 deluxe had the ashtray in the back. It was first reg in December 1968. It was a bit of a crossdresser as it had 1969 inner guards. and quite a few 69 bits and bobs. I think it was maybe one of the last off the line before changeover. I have seen this on some early Holdens and Fords.

My 1966.5 has gone the central ashtray.
I thought it must have been standard fitment to all bucket-seated sedans.

Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
I don't think I've ever seen a car without the rear ashtray - all mine have 'em, incl the '65 parts donors.
'Barn Find' has one in the back of the front bench.
Doris also has 3 passenger grab handles in the roof (standard car door pulls).
But no dashtop clock, eved though the handbook shows one!
Cheers, Matt.

Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
I guess when your'e using the ashtray, ya' not bothered about what time it is !!
Here's a thought PR91, what about an ashtray mounted on the drive shaft well on GT's, Deluxe style.
Gotta check out that ashtray at all Japan, 2ldohc.....

Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
of all the belletts i've had (standard's and deluxe's), the deluxe's were the only ones with it "still" fitted, but as most of these cars were usually wrecks when i got them (for parts), the tray could have been pilfered before i got to them too. i know the race car definitly didnt have the tray or the mount there when i stripped it to rebuild either, and it was a road car when i got it.GTtoo wrote: Here's a thought PR91, what about an ashtray mounted on the drive shaft well on GT's, Deluxe style.

i think it'll be too far back towards the rear seat, B, and just be a pain to step over, as the handbrake in a GT is further back along the floor pan than what it is in a sedan. the sedan has a space there that it fits in perfectly, but the handbrake uses this space in the GT. reason is that the gearstick in the GT is further back than in a sedan, meaning they had to move the handbrake back as well.
Re: bellett deluxe versus standard bellett
Yeah PR91, I had a quick look last night, and yes, could mount an ashtray but you would certainly end up kicking it around the back seat floor pan !!
had no idea the mounting distances were different in GT's for gearsticks and hand brakes,... interesting

I don't require the conventional use for the ashtray, but it has another - It props a 1 litre drink bottle between the seats & holds a Mars bar! mmmmmm, so chooooclaateeeee....aaaarrccggg.....

Cuppa tea and good chocolate is my vote, lol.
As people are talking about handbrakes, just wondering if the mechanism under the floor is the same (ie distnace mountings etc) is the same for bench seat and bucket seat.
Havent had a chance to look under a bucket seat car yet, and i want to move my handbrake to the centre.
Cheers
Rob

Only thing that improves a Mars Bar is a good Coffee, mate! Might have to watch for one of those machines!
Hey Rob, I'll have to check out the difference. (I know G.T. is different) I'd have a spare centre mechanism if you need it.
Cheers, Matt.
